20 Things I Want To Do While I'm Young

Image
Hi everyone!  Welcome back to my blog. Last week, I wrote about the goals I want to achieve when I'm fifteen (if you haven't seen the post then go check it out!) and I really enjoyed thinking about those short-term goals. So, I decided to write up a post on some longer-term goals. I wouldn't say that these are long-term goals but they should see me through the rest of my teens and twenties so they're more like medium-term goals. In no particular order, here are 20 things I want to do when I'm young. Enjoy!  1. Become fluent in another language I love learning new languages and about new cultures so I really want to be bilingual or even trilingual. I don't know my native language (Urdu) but I want to learn it or at least be able to understand it. The only thing is, I don't really know what resources to use. I also want to expand on my (very limited!) Spanish and French.  2. Publish or edit a book I've wanted to write a book for as long as I can remember b...

Turning Fifteen: Birthday Blues and Goals

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog. I'm finally turning fifteen on Monday (July 6) and, truthfully, I'm having mixed feelings about this. There's something about birthdays that both excites me and terrifies me and every summer, as July gets closer, I can almost feel the years slipping through my fingers. It sounds so dramatic but growing up is thrilling yet scary and in some ways, I can't wait to get older and see where time takes me as I move through adolescence and into adulthood. I'm really excited to learn how to drive, earn money and become more independent. But, equally, my responsibilities increasing and seeing the world getting uglier is also part of getting older which isn't so appealing!  As some of you may know, I am currently living away from my extended family: I live with my immediate family in the Middle East but my grandparents, cousins etc. all live in the UK (check out my perks of growing up in different cultures post for more insight). Ever...

How I'm Making The Most Out Of Summer 2020

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog. As we all know, summer 2020 is going to be very different- at least for the first half of it. The country I live in is still enforcing strict lockdown rules- meaning my summer is not going to be the same. No late-night trips with friends. No family lunches. Even doing some of the most normalised summer activities, such as going to the cinema, are now threats to our health. In this post, I'm going to be talking about how I'm feeling about this situation and what I'm doing about it.  I am a British expat living in the Middle East (stay tuned for another blog post about my personal situation and what it's like). Every summer, I go back to the UK for two and a half months and spend my summer there. To me, it's not a holiday, it's going home. Even though I have been living here for ten years (and I'm almost fifteen), the UK has something that the Middle East lacks for me: extended family. The other day, I was feeling quite...

January Reflection and February Resolutions

Image
Hello everybody! Welcome back to my blog. Happy February! Honestly, it feels like January took forever to end. Usually time flies by, especially in such eventful months, but January took a long time for some reason.  We all know the worldwide things that happened in January. There were earthquakes, fires, an idol passed away and there was even a potential war. Not the best start to the year for all of us in my opinion! But there were also a lot if personal highlights for me- which I will be reflecting on in this post.  This month I...  Celebrated New Years with my family and friends. My family came over from New York and London and we spent the Christmas and New Year holidays together. Also, my really close friends came here too.  Got my mid year exam results back.  I'm in the British system and am in Year 10- the first year of my GCSEs. So these exams were technically the first exams I've ever sat as a GCSE student- and Alhamdulillah th...
